I’m not sure if this is a published book, or a promotional item from Open Road Media. The ISBN that I had for this book actually belongs to a different title (same publisher). This was an offering through NetGalley.
It’s difficult to ‘review’ a book that is really nothing more than a sampler. This offers the first chapter of a number of Christmas-themed mysteries in the open Road catalog. If you’re looking for a mystery, this, in itself, is not it. However, it will tease you, if you’re a mystery fan. From a typical book review standpoint, this is not a worthy read.
From a marketing standpoint, however, this is sort of brilliant. It works. I discovered at least two new writers that I intend to seek out and sample a little more in-depth by reading at least one of each of their books.
If you are a mystery fan, or thinking about reading mysteries, or looking for a new series or two because your favorite author isn’t publishing fast enough for you … then this is the perfect sort of book for you.
Looking for a good book? This isn’t a good book in itself, but it may lead you to something that you’ll really enjoy.
